So you want to pull off a bolder lip but not sure exactly how to do it? Well, you’ve come to the right place! Adding a fabulous, sophisticated and sexy red, coral or pink lipstick can be that finishing touch to any outfit and make you feel so much more put together.
I’m known for rocking my signature red lipstick. Here’s how you, too, can pull off a bold lip with any outfit! – Melissa Menzies
A sensual and sophisticated RED lipstick.
Wearing a bold red lip is easier than you may think. Red is classy, bold and sophisticated, but it must be done in the right way (and can even help you look like you have a whiter smile if you use a red with blue undertones). Consider using a lip liner to define your shape and watch you don’t wear it on your teeth. Tip: try the timeless trick of making a circle with your mouth, sticking your finger in and then pulling it out to help wipe off excess product. (I know how it sounds, but it’s for beauty’s sake!)
Let those daring red lips be the centerpiece of a monochromatic look. Blue jeans and a great vegan / leather moto jacket should be a staple in any wardrobe. This look is classic, chic and oh so easy for any femme fatale to pull off.
Using the triad of the color wheel, yellow, red and blue work in beautiful harmony when pulled together. A bright and cheery yellow will diminish those grey winter skies. These blue flared high waisted jeans are a seasonal denim trend to look for and enjoy. Add a tan overcoat for the cooler months.
A poppin’ CORAL lipstick.
Working with the color wheel again, coral and green are exactly opposite each other so they are another combination that pop when paired together. My inspiration will help you wear this color combination without looking like a Christmas season promo. Personally, I love pairing coral with darker blue hues, and I know that each of you has at least one pair of blue jeans in your wardrobe!
Use the color wheel to guide your lipstick and outfit pairings: choose opposites, triads or similar hues.
Pretty in PINK lipstick.
The third and final way to use the color wheel is to work within the same color family. Pink lipstick looks surprisingly perfect with a red dress as they’re similar hues. As we head into the festive season of Thanksgiving and Christmas, now you know which lipstick to pair with your holiday party dress.
